U.S. Border Patrol Station

Description

The U.S. Border Patrol Station at Ft. Hancock is a USACE design build project which included a 28,700 GSF office building with sally port and holding cells, a 13,610 GSF vehicle maintenance bay, vehicle parking lots, fueling station, and a vehicle wash area. Barnhart-Taylor, Inc. was subcontracted by Vanguard Contractors to install the Plumbing / HVAC System for the facilities.  HVAC work for the main building included installing variable air volume packaged roof-top units, variable air volume terminal boxes (VAV’s), EMCS, Hot Water boilers, circulating pumps, exhaust fans, unit heaters, mini-splits systems, and a heat/energy recovery unit with desiccant wheel.  The HVAC work in the vehicle maintenance bay included the installation  of evaporative cooling units, infrared heaters, mini-split systems for offices, and a vehicle exhaust system with hose reels.  Both buildings are controlled through a direct digital controls systems (DDC).  Barnhart-Taylor, Inc. was responsible for the TAB of all HVAC systems.

Stout Gym (Bldg. 2930)Renovation

Description

The Renovation of Building 2930 (Stout Gym) was a HUBZONE set aside  and an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) project which required a large number of subcontractors.  Work, while the building was occupied, included the installation of 2 new 200 ton chillers, 3 hot water boilers, and 9 circulating pumps circulating hot and chilled water through an innovative one pipe system which supplied a total of 14 air handlers and 5 blower coil units with Direct Digital Controls. Electrical work included new lighting, electrical panels, and circuits, wiring, fixtures, propeller fans, and a main switchboard.  A new Fire Alarm and Mass Notification System, Fire Sprinkler System upgrade with a new fire pump and fire pump controller were designed under Barnhart-Taylor’s supervision and installed by Barnhart-Taylor as part of the gym project. New finishes included wood flooring for the basketball and racquetball courts, VCT, carpeting, new ceilings, painting, doors and hardware, counter tops, and shower partitions.

Centralized Vehicle Wash Facility (CVWF)

Description

This design/build HUBZONE project provides a rapid, economical method for washing tracked and wheeled tactical vehicles.  The construction of this new facility required coordination with numerous architects and engineers and subcontractors.  This project required a large infrastructure installation to service the facility and consists of 3,900,000 sq. ft. property, 385,009 sq. ft of a 9” thick concrete hardstand, several large concrete structures (bird bath, wash water reservoir, sedimentation basin and equalization basin).  A control building was installed to house the digital controls for the facility, electrical gear, and a restrooms and lounge area.  The Design team (Architectural Firm) that worked on this project will be contracted for this MATOC.  Barnhart-Taylor, Inc. formed a Joint Venture (STC/BHT, LLC) with STC Constructors to manage the project together as a Prime Contractor.  Barnhart-Taylor, Inc. was contracted by the joint venture to install the process piping, water, sewer, vertical turbine pumping systems, motorized weir gate, and large motorized valves.  Barnhart-Taylor, Inc. assisted in the design phase of the project as well as management of the construction phase.

ORTC Barracks - McGregor Range

Description

This new construction of four two-story barracks complex includes office areas, dorms, HVAC, sanitary sewer, parking lots, access drives, sidewalks, lighting, communication systems.  Each barrack has an area of 30,346 sq ft , and the total area of the four barracks is 121,504 sq ft.   

Barnhart Taylor was contracted by STC Constructors LP to install the Mechanical HVAC System, Plumbing and part of the Electrical distribution underneath each barrack to supplement the work of the electrical contractor. Comfort air conditioning included Variable Air Volume (VAV) roof mounted units, VAV terminal units, and Direct Digital Controls. Plumbing included cast iron pipe and fittings, fixtures with flush valve control, and domestic water system with high efficiency hot water boilers.

Abatement and Demolition of Buildings at Old Kayenta Boarding School

Description

Barnhart Taylor was contracted to perform demolition of the buildings and elevated water tank associated with the Old Kayenta Boarding School. Including utilities such as water lines, sewer lines, electrical conduit, gas lines, propane lines, and steam tunnels that are no longer in use, as well as, all hazardous material prior to demolition. All hazardous and non-hazardous where demolished, removed and disposed in accordance to industry standards.

Tohaali Flooring Abatement

Description

Barnhart-Taylor was contracted to provide the BIA with all supervision and services to abate asbestos floor tile, cove base, associated mastic and lead coated ceramic tile and an Architect/Engineer to design and build floor replacement.

Installed commercial grade vinyl floor tile, cove base and adhesive using non-asbestos containing materials, also installed ceramic tile in bathrooms.

Tohatchi Abate-Demo

Description

Barnhart-Taylor was contracted to demolish systematically with an Excavator and hydraulic shear. The demolition proceeded from top to bottom, wall by wall, with the work being done on the roof completed before any of the supporting structures and floor disturbed. By proceeding in this manner dangerous conditions such as weak and unsupported walls was eliminated.

Wingate Project to Renovate Staff  Quarters

Description

Barnhart-Taylor was contracted to inspect and evaluate each project building and determined and defined the extent of renovation and refurbishment required to updrade and modernize each building to comply with current building codes and standards. Barnhart-Taylor prepared the project design documents like performance specification, working drawings with details & notes to renovate the project buildings to comply with provisions of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), National Electric Code (NFPA 70), and Council of America Building Officials (CABO), One and Two Family Dweling Code, 2018 International Residential Code (IRC) and ADA compliance standards.
